Hi Families,

We started our week celebrating Valentine's Day, and adding our last step to our 'Kindergarten Has Heart' collaborative art project.

After viewing the Scratch Garden Texture song, each student contributed
a texture they heard, or generated an original example.

Ask your child what object they added,
and what texture it has.

In Phys. Ed., we spent the week doing "Would You Rather" activities. Students have to listen carefully to the two choices provided, choose one, and then do the action paired with that choice. All 3 "Would you Rather" activities from the week are posted in Google Classroom for you to enjoy as a family. Google Classroom --> Classwork --> Resources --> Would You Rather Fitness Activities.

An example from our Valentine's Day "Would You Rather...?"
Find the full activity, as well as others, in Google Classroom.

We continued to explore ways to self-assess and understand our next steps in learning, through patterns in Math.

Matching pattern examples to pattern cores.
Students labeled each item in the pattern to confirm their understanding.

Together we sorted each pattern core as "mild", "medium" or "spicy"
so students can choose their "just-right" learning level,
and have an understanding of what their next steps are,
 and how to challenge themselves.

Between Valentine's Day and Pink Shirt Day, February is all about kindness, caring and friendship. One of the most important, and hardest, friendship skills is learning to apologize.

Flamingo is upset. Very upset.
Potato is sorry. Very sorry. In fact, he is the sorriest.
But he doesn’t know how to tell Flamingo.

Apologizing can be hard, it doesn’t have to be complicated.
We learned when, why, and how to say you’re sorry.

Some compiled ideas about apologizing.

With Teacher's Convention and the Family Day Holiday, we will see students on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 22ND!

Have a wonderful long weekend everyone!
Ms. Thomas
