Hi Families,
This week in Math, we started exploring our Subitizing Superpower! What does subitize mean? To subitize means to identify the numbers of things in a set simply by quickly looking at them, not counting them one by one. A common example, and where we started our practice, is with the dot patterns on dice!
Using Math Shakers, children practiced their subitizing skills for numbers 1 to 6. Accurate one-by-one counting was reinforced as an additional strategy as we develop our Superpower. |
Children played a simple board game, applying their subitizing of dice patterns, as well as turn-taking, fair play and cooperation. |
Last year, as a whole school, we enjoyed a virtual residency from Mindfulness Educator, Amber Pavey. We continue to benefit from her teaching, and have started introducing the students to some practices to help connect with our bodies and breath.
Finally, we continue with MOVE-ember! As a school, we are participating in a daily "Drop Everything and Plank!" challenge!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
